Pre-Professional Ballet Program
Find the Right Training Level for You
Dancers interested in International Ballet School's Pre-Professional Program are invited to take a class with us or submit a video for evaluation. Our Artistic Directors will assess each dancer individually and recommend the class and training program that will best support their development and goals.
For video evaluations, please include barre work, center adagio, a turn combination, small and large jumps, and a classical variation of your choice.
The Program
International Ballet School offers advanced and pre-professional ballet training for serious dancers seeking a high standard of classical ballet education. Students may participate in our after-school Advanced Program or our more intensive daytime Pre-Professional Program.
Our daytime program is designed for dedicated dancers ages 12–20 who are pursuing professional-level training and considering a career in dance. Training includes classical ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux, contemporary dance, character, stretch and strength, while developing the musicality, artistry and versatility required for a professional career.
Students gain extensive stage experience through International Youth Ballet’s full-length productions, including The Nutcracker and our annual spring ballet. Day Program students also perform in two additional productions each year, giving them even more opportunities to develop their artistry and experience onstage.
Dancers also have opportunities for individualized coaching and preparation for national and international ballet competitions.
Tuition
Tuition for the Pre-Professional Program is structured as annual tuition divided into monthly payments, making payments predictable for families throughout the training year.
Program Length: The program runs for 10½ months, beginning in August and concluding in mid-June.
Annual Tuition: Annual tuition covers all scheduled instructional hours throughout the season and is divided into monthly payments.
Holidays & Studio Closures: Scheduled breaks, including winter and spring break, are already factored into annual tuition. Specific dates are provided on the school calendar.
Monthly Payments: Tuition is divided into 10 equal monthly payments automatically withdrawn on the first of each month. The final half-month of June is billed separately.
Withdrawal Policy: We require at least 48 hours' notice before the next billing cycle to cancel the upcoming automated payment.
Performance opportunities
Pre-Professional dancers gain extensive stage experience through International Youth Ballet's full-length productions, including The Nutcracker and our annual spring ballet. Past productions have included Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Professional male dancers are engaged for our productions, giving advanced students valuable experience in classical partnering and pas de deux. Day Program students also participate in two additional performances each year, providing even more opportunities to develop stage experience, confidence and artistry.
We believe performing is an essential part of a dancer's education. Full-length productions allow students to apply their technical training onstage while developing the musicality, professionalism and artistry required of a professional dancer.
Program minimum age
For the Advanced program all student will be placed by ability at the discretion off the artistic directors. Intermediate class begins at age 12 and up.
Are there scholarships available?
Scholarships are by in person auditions only.
