What classes are offered?

We offer several options for the Intermediate and Advanced students. We have after school classes as well as a day program for those interested in a career track.

The day training program is designed to meet the needs of those dedicated students 12-20 years of age who seek the highest standard of classical ballet education to prepare for a professional career. This program offers daily additional hours that we use to prepare for two additional performances per year as well as preparing for national and international competitions.

The day program performances exposes students to various styles of repetoire. This develops our students to be stylistically versatile which is essential in today's dance world. All ballet companies want strongly trained classical dancers who are trained in the classical repetoire as well as dancers who can easily transition into the neoclassical style of Balanchine to the many contemporary choreographers working today. We know that strong technique allows the dancer to have the freedom to develop their artistry and our program focuses on creating the whole dancer.

Both programs work daily under Mark and Sandra Carlson's direction and the faculty's careful guidance. Whether or not the students wants a professional career in dance we develop the essential skills to fully explore and realize their greatest individual potential for every dancer.

Along with daily lessons in classical technique, students have pointe, variations, pas de deux, contemporary, stretch and strength and guest teachers to expose them to different styles of dance.

All students have the opportunity to audition for both the Nutcracker and the Spring production.

What are the academic options for my student?

Day programs students start at 1:00 or 2:00 and dance until 6:45. Our day program students have many options for school including online programs, home schooling, and arranging with their schools to get out early. These options are up to the individual families.

What are the performance opportunities?

Our dancers have the opportunity to audition for two professional calibre productions a year, Nutcracker and our Spring show which rotates with Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and A Mid Summer Night's Dream. We perform at the beautiful Newman Center for Performing Arts at The University of Denver. Professional male dancers are hired for each of these productions so the students gain invaluable experience in partnering. We believe that dancing in full length ballets is invaluable in developing not only the strength and technique of a dancer but the chance to develop as an artist.

Is there a minimum age for the program?

For the Advanced program ages 14 and up, all student will be placed by ability at the discretion off the artistic directors. Intermediate class begins at age 12 and up.

Do you accept International Students?

International students who are invited to enroll in the International Ballet School - Pre-Professional Expanded Program will be required to obtain an M-1 Student Visa.

Are there scholarships available?
