Classical Ballet Training for Ages 7–11
International Ballet School's Youth Ballet Program in Littleton, Colorado provides progressive classical ballet training for children ages 7–11. Students build strong technique, musicality, artistry and confidence through carefully structured levels that grow with them as their strength, coordination and technical understanding develop.
Classes are taught by experienced professional ballet teachers with an emphasis on correct placement and technique from the beginning. As students progress, their training expands to include pointe preparation and, when developmentally appropriate, pointe work, while continuing to build the strength and artistry needed for more advanced ballet training.
With classes limited to 12 students, each dancer receives individual attention and a strong classical foundation—whether ballet becomes something they simply love or something they eventually choose to pursue seriously.
Performing Opportunities
Youth Program students ages 7–11 have opportunities to participate in International Youth Ballet’s full-length productions, including The Nutcracker and our annual spring ballet. Past productions have included Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Students may also have opportunities to participate in dance competitions, performing in group pieces or, when appropriate, being individually coached and prepared for solo competition. Competition coaching gives young dancers the chance to work toward personal goals, gain confidence onstage, and experience performing in a supportive and age-appropriate way.
We believe performing is an important part of a dancer’s education. Whether dancing in a full-length ballet, performing with a group, or preparing a solo, these experiences help students apply their classroom training, develop musicality and artistry, build confidence, and grow from ballet students into young artists.
