The Extended Program
International Ballet School offers an extended program for the student who aspires to a professional career in Ballet. The program offers 27 hours of classes per week, plus rehearsal hours on the weekends. Many hours of training and performing are required to develop both physical strength and artistic maturity to become a professional dancer. This training program offers both Fall and Spring performance opportunities in addition to the Nutcracker and the spring production. The performances offer opportunity to dance both the classical repertoire as well as contemporary works. This program is by audition only.
International Ballet School has a performing company called the International Youth Ballet. IYB presents performances twice a year, the Nutcracker is the first weekend in December. In the spring, IYB rotates five different full length ballet's, the Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, A Mid Summer's Night's Dream, Cinderella, and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland the first weekend in June. All of the performances are at the beautiful Newman Center for the Performing Arts, Gates Concert Hall, University of Denver. IYB also performs outreach programs of both the Nutcracker and Spring performances for the Highlands Ranch Cultural Art's Association.
International Ballet School participates in Several competitions. We feel preparing for competitions challenges the student to grow in both technique and artistry. By giving students variations that are an attainable challenge, the students grow in both physical strength and confidence. We participate in the Youth America Grand Prix, which is the worlds largest student scholarship competition. IBS students also participate in the local Denver Ballet Guild Young Dancer's competition. Our students have also traveled abroad to the Prix de Lausanne competition in Switzerland, as well as the USA International Ballet Competition. All students are prepared and coached through private lessons and classes.
